How to make Mini Dutch Doll

I love dutch doll, as well as I love other costume dolls. Luckily I have several of these dolls And this pair is my latest collection (bought them in Volendam). So I said to myself “it’s about time to create mini dutch doll”. Previously I have created two pairs of dutch dolls (featured in my books “Asyiknya Membuat Boneka Kertas Gaya Mancanegara”, and “Kreasi Boneka Kertas Aneka Bangsa”) But they came in big size. And right now, I prefer something small, quick, and simple. So, here it is, my mini dutch doll!

There are several types of “klederdracht” (traditional dress). And of course, the famous one is Volendam costume. But right now, I’m not going to make a doll in volendam dress, instead I just wanna make something similar (and simple) like what they’re wearing in this photo. (ooh.. I miss that day. It was really a fun day!!)

And… since this is a dutch doll, I also said to myself “why not writing this tutorial in ducth?” I know.. I know… I will definitely write a lot of mistake. Not to mention, this will be my first attemp to write a craft tutorial in ducth. But hey.. at least I give a try. So, here it is…

HET HOLLANDSE MEISJE

Benodigd:

• wit papier (voor het hoofd en de hoed)
• geel papier (voor het haar en de klompen)
• zwaart papier (voor de klederdracht)
• Strippen papier van rood-wit-blauw (voor de halsband en de schort)
• kaartkarton: rood karton van 6 X 19 cm
• Blauwe en rode pen (om een mond en een paar ogen te tekenen)
• Schaar
• Lijm

nb. Als u geen strippen papier heeft, dan doe maar alleen met wit papier. Daarna kunt u zelf strippen maken met blauwe en rode pen.

Stap-voor-stap

1. Maak een cirkel van wit papier. De cirkel is 7/8”. Ik gebruik puncher om deze cirkel te maken.
2. Maak andere cirkel van dezelfde maat. Maar nu maakt u van geel papier.
3. Vouw die cirkel in half.
4. Knip om haar te maken.
5. Open het papier
6. Lijm het haar boven de hoofd.
7. Neem wit papier van ongeveer 2 X 2 cm. Vouw naar acheteren de linkerkant en rechterkant (zie maar de illustratie)
8. Knip… (cut the excess).
9. Knip aan het midden
10. Vouw de twee kanten.
11. Nu hebt u de hoed.
12. Lijm de hoofd aan de binnen kant van de hoed.
13. Nu hebt u de hoofd met een hoed.
14. Teken een gezicht met blauwe en rode pen.
15. Neem zwaart papier van ongeveer 2 X 2 cm. Vouw naar acheteren de linkerkant en rechterkant. De lengte van lijn A is ongeveer 1 cm.
16. Nu hebt u de jurk.
17. Maak twee kleine cirkels. Kunt u gewoon maken met een normale hole puncher.
18. Lijm die circkels ann het binnen van de jurk.
19. Neem een wit papier van 1,5 X 1 cm.
20. Vouw in half.
21. Knip zoals op de illustratie.
22. Open het papier. Nu hebt u een schort.
23. Lijm de schort op de jurk. Daarna vouw acheteren de linkerkant en ahterkant van de schort.
24. Nu hebt u een jurk met een schort.
25. Neem een zwaart papier van 2 X 2 cm. Doe heen en weer vouwen (om een hulplijn te maken).
26. Open het papier. En dan vouw achteren de linkerkant en rechterkant van het papier.
27. Nu hebt u een blouse.
28. Neem een vierkante wit papier van half centimeter. Maak een bergvouw. Nu hebt u een halsband.
29. Lijm de halsband op de blouse.
30. Nu hebt u een blouse met halsband.
31. ………. (insert the blouse into the jurk)
32. Nu hebt u een compleet klederdracht
33. Maak maar kleurde strippen met blauwe en rode pen.
34. Neem een kaartkarton van 6 X 19 cm. Doe bergvouw. Daarna, lijm de hoofd op de kaart.
35. Maak 6 kleine cirkels. Kunt u gewoon maken met een normale hole puncher.
36. Lijm de klederdracht op de kaart. En daarna lijm de 6 kleine circkels (3 aan het linkerkant, en andere 3 aan het rechterkant). Uw hollandse meisje is klaar

HOW TO MAKE MINI SPANISH DOLL

I have these 2 boxes of decorative scissor, and rarely use them. One of the box is still sealed. So I designed this Spanish doll. What I love about Spanish costume is its layered skirt with ruffles, which is perfect to make my fancy scissor usable.

You will need:
– White paper (for the head)
– Brown paper (for the hair)
– Red and yellow paper (for the dress)
– Flower embellishment (optional)
– Glue
– Scissor
– Dark brown & red pen (to draw a face)
– Decorative scissor (optional)
– Cardstock 6 X 19 cm
– Hole puncher

Step-by-step

1. Make a round shape of 7/8” from white paper. It will be easier to use a puncher.

2. Make another round shape at a same size, this time use brown paper.

3. Fold in half.

4. Cut (create a hair shape).

5. Unfold, now you have the hair.

6. Mount the hair onto the head.

7. Prepare a yellow square paper of about 2 X 2 cm. Fold backway the left and right side.

8. If you have a decorative scissor, then you can make a wave cut.

9. Make another 2 skirts, same way as the yellow one, instead this time use a red paper.

10. Now is time for layering the skirts. Insert one skirt into another (as illustrated), then glue them.

11. The layered skirt will look like this. Take a small yellow paper of about 9 X 9 mm. Then fold in half.

12. Put the small yellow paper on the top side of the skirt. Fold backway the left and right side, then glue.

13. It will look like this.

14. Take another small paper of 9 X 9mm, this time in red. Fold in half.

15. Insert the small paper into the skirt, then glue.

16. Fold backway the left and right side.

17. The skirt is done.

18. Since I’m going to make a small gift card, so I use 6 X 19 cm pink cardstock. Fold it in half. Mount the head onto the cardstock.

19. Mount the skirt.

20. Make 6 brown circles with a standard hole puncher.

21. Put 3 circles on the left, and another 3 on the right (as illustrated). Now the hair is completed. Have small flower embellishments? You can use them as hair accessories.

Done!

DIY: Mini Kokeshi Dolls (from papers)

It’s been a while since I wrote my last free tutorial. This simple model is inspired by “kokeshi doll” (japanese wooden doll). So I called them “mini kokeshi dolls”.

To make this doll, you will need:

– white paper (for the head)

– black paper (for the hair)

– 2 strips of 1 cm X 4 cm paper (for the kimono)

– 1 strip of 1 cm X 2 cm paper (for the obi)

– black and red pen (to draw a face)

– scissor

– glue

– cardstock. mine is  19 x 6 cm (then I folded in half)

Step-by-step:

1.  Make a round shape of 7/8” from white paper. It will be easier to use a puncher.

2.  Make another round shape at a same size, this time use black paper.

3.  Fold in half.

4.  Cut (create a hair shape).

5.  Unfold, now you have the hair.

6.  Mount the hair onto the head.

7. Draw a face.

8. Prepare the kimono strips.

9. Prepare the obi strip.

10. Place (& glue) the right obi onto the left one (see illustration).

11. now you have the kimono.

12. place the obi.

13. mount the kimono onto the cardstock.

14. mount the head.

done! very simple & easy to make
